My research goal is to identify and test nursing interventions that will improve the health of older adults with complex needs before, during, and after hospitalization for cancer surgery. Results from this research can then be implemented in practice, be a foundation for improving nursing practice, and guide health care policy changes.

I am motivated by my clinical practice as an oncology nurse practitioner caring for older adults with cancer who have complex needs. With increasing fragmentation of the health care system, coordination of care by nursing is essential in providing quality health care.
