Senior Fellow, Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research

Dr. Colin Plover is a fellow at the Center for Public Health Initiatives. Dr. Plover’s dissertation research focused on better understanding how charge nurses in adult medical-surgical settings organize the delivery of nurse-patient care through the development of the nurse-patient assignment. His research interests include the optimization of health system operation through the investigation of associations between the work environment and outcomes.

How health systems organize the delivery of patient care affects outcomes and both the efficiency and cost-effectiveness with which care is delivered. Investments in care delivery frameworks driven by evidence-based strategies have potential to provide greater value. Multimethod investigations designed to leverage insight from a constellation of sources and datasets facilitate the development and integration of innovative health system adaptations to meet increasingly complex patient needs.
