Two-Factor Authentication

Penn is requiring all staff to enroll in Two-Step to enhance security for University information assets and community members’ personal data.

The University is deploying an added security feature, Two-Step Verification, for all PennKey users’ access to University resources. By Tuesday, November 14, 2017, it will be mandatory for all staff members to enroll in Two-Step Verification when accessing all PennKey protected web pages/resources. In the interim, we encourage you to enroll in the Two-Step verification process now and review your options for verification.

What is Two-Step verification and why are we adding this to PennKey authentication?

Two-Step Verification provides an additional layer of security to your PennKey account by requiring two methods to verify your identity. With Two-Step enabled, you’ll continue to log in with your PennKey and password, however a second step will be required to verify your identity using a device in your possession, either a mobile phone or a key fob. One of the highlights of Two-Step is that even if your password is stolen, your PennKey is protected.

What do you need to do?
