National Cyber Security Awareness Month

The University is hosting a series of events to highlight October as the National Cyber Security Month.

In support of NCSAM, Penn’s Office of Information Security is collaborating with Schools and Centers to provide three fantastic events for faculty, staff and students.  Please attend yourself and help us promote them to relevant parties in your organization.

  • October 13: Internet Safety for Kids. ISC and Wharton are hosting an event for anyone interested in understanding the full context and impact of technology on the social, emotional and academic lives of children and teens. With Erica Pelavin from MyDigitalTAT2; Dr. Amy Bleakley (Annenberg); Mr. Scott Schafer (Privacy); and Dr. Wiam Younes (Information Security).
  • October 20: Balancing Research with Privacy and Security. Tell your faculty and researchers this is the one event they will not want to miss!  An expert panel will discuss the security and privacy-related tools, challenges and resources that come into play when conducting research at Penn. With Dr. Jose Bauermeister (Nursing); Ms. Elizabeth Peloso (Office of Research Services); Dr. Stewart Varner (Price Lab for Digital Humanities); Dr. Christine Brisson (SAS Computing); and Ms. Elizabeth Crutchley (Penn Infant Language Center)
  • November 9: Free & Legal (Thor: Ragnarok Movie Screening): This movie night for students is being hosted by Information Security at the Cinemark Theater on Walnut. The free screening will be preceded by a brief discussion on DMCA and Penn’s copyright policy.
