PA Lt. Gov Picks Brown for Board of Pardons
She will serve as a member. The appointment began in June 2016 and operates at the discretion of the Lieutenant Governor.
This appointment reinforces Brown’s most recent efforts in helping to secure the release of incarcerated individuals serving life without parole via the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons. She is also assisting incarcerated people – sentenced as juveniles to life without parole – who will be re-sentenced under two recent Federal Supreme Court rulings.
Brown is a pioneering nurse who helped create the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) programs that have become common across the country. Her protocols have been implemented into state policy and the American Prosecutors Research Institute, a division of the National Institute of Justice. She consults with prosecutors and defense attorneys nationally, consults with the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp, and has been the sole nurse expert in many criminal trials and court martial procedures. She is a sought after expert witness in sexual assault and sexual homicide cases for both criminal and civil cases.
