Microsoft Patch Tuesday

All School of Nursing domain machines will reboot after receiving critical security patches at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

October 16, 2018

All School of Nursing domain machines will reboot after receiving critical security patches at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Though Microsoft usually releases patches on the second Tuesday of each month, ITS is delaying deployment of these patches to allow for adequate testing. On the third Tuesday of each month, ITS will now deploy patches to Nursing domain machines at 4:00 A.M. tomorrow morning; all machines will automatically reboot at that time.

Microsoft releases critical security patches for servers and desktop/laptop computers.

In addition to the monthly Microsoft Patch Tuesday Updates, ITS will also apply weekly third-party software patches overnight, every Tuesday. If you need access to network drives during that time, the virtual environment can be found here:

https://virtual.nursing.upenn.edu

Additionally, please also see the VDI Information/FAQ page located here:

https://www.nursing.upenn.edu/its/resources/getting-connected/virtual-desktop/

As ITS learns of critical vulnerabilities for which emergency patches are available, we will keep you informed. The University provides Symantec Endpoint Protection at no cost to Faculty, Staff, and Students; please contact the ITS Service Desk if you need a copy.
