2009 Bridge of Courage Award
Kathleen Brown, PhD, Practice Assistant Professor of Nursing
Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR)awardees are individuals who have been advocates in creating and implementing programs to educate community members and serve victims of sexual assault. Dr. Kathleen Brown was honored this past September at the WOAR annual event, “The Bridge of Courage Fundraiser.” Dr. Brown has designed “a nursing response to hands-on sex crimes in Philadelphia” and has been training nurses to collect forensic evidence from victims of sexual assault at the School of Nursing since 1995. Due to her efforts, Philadelphia has three teams of nurses who collect evidence from adult victims of sexual assault.
