Margo Brooks Carthon, PhD, RN, APRN is the recipient of the 2009 Teresa E. Christy Award given by the American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN). She received this award for her dissertation titled "No Place for the Dying: A Tale of Urban Health Work in Philadelphia's Black Belt." Dr. Carthon is a post doctoral fellow in the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR) and the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing.
The Teresa E. Christy Award is awarded to new nursing history researchers and their works written during their student years. Awards are usually given to postdoctoral works in dissertation form.
