Biographical Sketch. A nursing student at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1887-1889, she is believed to be the nurse featured in Thomas Eakins' portrait of the Agnew Clinic hanging in the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine.

Summary. This collection includes lecture notes of Mary U. Clymer taken during her training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Part of one volume includes a detailed account of Clymer's ward work where she describes the daily activities that she observed on the hospital ward.
