Global Health Study Options

The need for nurse leaders who incorporate an understanding of the global connectedness of the precursors, causes and consequences of the distribution of health, illness, injury and disease has never been more paramount than at present. Growing threats of pandemics and environmentally caused disease, terrorism, and disasters increase the acuity of nursing shortages worldwide and broaden global disparities in quality of nursing education and patient care. Consequently, the education of global leaders of the profession is core to the School of Nursing’s mission.

At the School of Nursing, we offer a Global Nursing & Health Care Minor for students in full or part-time Master’s or Post-Master’s study and a Multicultural/Global Health Care Minor for students enrolled in our undergraduate program.

At the University level, the Office of International Programs promotes, assists and coordinates international activites throughout Penn.

In Philadelphia, International House is an independent, non-profit organization housing nearly 400 students, scholars and interns from over 65 countries.  The agency provides a unique residential experience that supports students' development as future leaders by offering a full spectrum of programs that create individuals able to work and interact successfully with people from all backgrounds.
