HUP Legacy Fountain
The HUP Legacy Fountain is a centerpiece of the School of Nursing's new Atrium Garden, located in the heart of Fagin Hall. The three bubblers in the fountain represent each of the three years of the HUP program and HUP graduates are symbolized by more than 5,000 stones in the rectangular basin of the fountain.
The founding of the HUP Nursing School in 1886 began a rich tradition of nursing leadership and excellence that is the hallmark of today's School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. This started with the first class of 12 women, and provided the foundation for nursing education at Penn which has evolved in its support of the nursing profession over time.
Five HUP graduates are honored on pavers adjacent to the HUP Legacy Fountain as Pathfinders for their exemplary impact on nursing and reflection on the importance of the HUP legacy. These Pathfinders are:
