Nursing scholarship is what leadership magnate Drucker (1993) would classify as “knowledge work” and must be by the outcomes achieved. While nursing scholars spend tremendous time and energy planning and executing the activities of research, education and practice, it is the outcomes of their activities which provide evidence of their effectiveness. Thus, every nursing scholar should focus on both the higher goals of their activities and the measurable outcomes toward which they aim.
