Bringing Diversity Home
The School of Nursing aims to change the face of nursing to reflect the diversity of a global society. The Office of Diversity and Cultural Affairs supports the advancement, development, translation, and integration of culturally sensitive knowledge into nursing science, education, and practice, as well as promotes a climate that will attract, retain, and promote a critical mass of faculty, students, and staff from underrepresented populations.
Leadership is needed to inspire innovation and transform nursing education, research, practice, and health policy. The ability to eliminate health disparities in the 21st Century will not only depend on nursing science, but also on nurse leaders who reflect ethnically and racially diverse communities and who are prepared to lead change through research and policy development.
It is therefore our mission at the Office of Diversity and Cultural Affairs to promote, inspire, and encourage leadership and innovation in our students, the future generation of nurse educators, scholars, and practitioners.
