Penn Nursing Consultation Service
The Penn Nursing Consultation Service (PNCS) represents a network of over 120 nurse consultants and associates from related professions, such as nutrition, social work, occupational therapy and practice-related business/strategic planning. Begun in 1988 as the Gerontologic Nursing Consultation Service, PNCS helps to advance quality of life for persons of all ages by sharing the expertise of its national network of advanced practice consultants under the direction of a faculty advisor, Lois K. Evans, DNSc, RN, FAAN.
The Gerontologic Nursing Consultation Service was developed in 1988 in response to growing numbers of requests from hospitals and health systems, nursing homes, area agencies on aging, professional organizations, law firms, and caregivers throughout the United States and globally for help in bring solutions to tough problems. Over time, the consultant client base expanded to include managed care, retirement communities and other long-term care systems, and engineering, architectural and other businesses involved in new product development and design.
Currently, PNCS provides institutional consultations, professional and consumer workshops and other speaking engagements, as well as consultations to groups of family caregivers, and curricular- and research-related assistance. We are now able to extend Penn Nursing Consultation Services via distance learning and other technologies.
