“Families are utilizing adult day programs and senior centers for assistance in the day time care of their loved one. Small group homes are becoming more popular for providing care to older adults with chronic illness or dementia. Assisted living is not typically covered by insurance but is becoming an option as often the older adults in assisted living look like the older adults who were in long term care facilities of 30 years ago.” said Dr. Cacchione.
