Research teams representing eighteen European countries examined data from hundreds of hospitals and 15,000 nurses. They also studied data from thousands of patients. Investigators study the role nursing work environments and nursing staff deployment play in nurse recruitment, retention, productivity and patient outcomes. Similar research projects were carried out in China, the UAE, Israel, and Latin America.
About the RN4CAST-EU
The Consortium is comprised of nursing and health care researchers, educators and scientists representing a total of 18 countries including the USA and three International Cooperating Partner Countries (ICPC) of the European Union making it the largest consortium ever in this domain.
The Center for Health Services and Nursing Research, KU Leuven, in Belgium acts as the coordinator in Europe. Center Director, Linda H. Aiken, PhD, RN, is the vice coordinator of the the RN4CAST-EU Consortium and leads a team of researchers in the United States.
