International Research Collaborative Faculty
James Buchan specializes in consultancy and policy research in health workforce policy. He was a Harkness Fellow in 1996-1997 at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research. Buchan is a member of the National Workforce Council, National Health Service in Scotland, and a member of the National Workforce Development Board, National Health Service, England.
Sabina DeGeest is Professor of Nursing and Director of the Institute of Nursing Science at the University of Basel, and Chair of the Department of Clinical Nursing Science at the University of Basel in Basel, Switzerland. She was the 2003 International Scholar in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and is working with the Center to replicate its International study in Switzerland.
Frances Hughes is the Chief Advisor in Nursing, New Zealand Ministry of Health. She is a member of many national and international nursing groups, including AHWAC as the NZ delegate. Dr. Hughes was a Harkness Fellow at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001-2002.
Anne Marie Rafferty is the Director for the Centre for Policy in Nursing Research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Head of Health Services Research Unit. She was a Harkness Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania where she examined the lobbying tactics used by nursing organizations to influence the Clinton health care reform effort and is a collaborator with the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research on its International study.
