Signing Ceremony at Hong Kong University
to Commence Formal Cooperation Between Two Nursing Institutions

 The Head of Department of Nursing Studies, Faculty of Medicine (HKU), Dr. Sophia Siu-Chee Chan, and Dr. Neville E Strumpf, Edith Clemmer Steinbright Professor in Gerontology (UPenn), signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Nursing Studies, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania. The Signing Ceremony took place at the Hong Kong University Centre for Health Promotion on February 24, 2004. It was a milestone in the history of both institutions as it marked the establishment of their formal ties.

The Collaboration Agreement includes:
   

(i) Faculty Exchange
Faculty exchange is to be arranged which will benefit individual faculty members’ programs of scholarship, institutional missions, and respective communities’ or societies’ needs.

(ii) Student Exchange
Student exchange at all levels from undergraduate through post-doctoral that will benefit individual students’ learning and scholarship, institutional missions, and communities or societies’ needs.

(iii) Knowledge Resources
Exchange and development of knowledge and resources through virtual and real means which include individual projects and content that deemed useful for exchange on an emerging basis.

(iv) Research Collaboration
To support research collaboration among staff of the two institutions.
