On July 28th, 2003 the Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence and the Hartford/Rand Interdisciplinary Geriatric Health Care Research and Training Center of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing hosted two renowned public health experts to discuss the SARS epidemic. Dr. Sophia Siu-Chee Chan, head of the department of Nursing Studies, and Dr. Gabriel M. Leung, Clinical Assistant Professor in Public Health Medicine, gave a lecture entitled, "SARS: The Intersection of Public Health, Epidemiology and Clinical Nursing." The captive audience listened attentively as the two scholars revealed how the SARS epidemic spread in Hong Kong earlier this year.
