WHYY
Webcasts
Our partners at WHYY have been developing high level programs
on aging that encompass topics as diverse as health and wellness,
financial planning, travel opportunities and cultural interests.
Medical and technological advances have transformed the notion
of aging. By partnering with local organizations, WHYY is able
to offer a wealth of resources, which include community services
and cultural institutions, audio and video "streaming"
of lectures and other events of interest, and archives of helpful
information.
NYU
Gerontological Nurse Certification Review Course
The Gerontological Nurse Certification Review course offered by
the John A Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing
at NYU examines the fundamental knowledge about care of the older
adult that the registered nurse must master to be certified as
a Gerontolgical Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center
(ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. The content
and emphasis of the course correspond to that of the examination
as outlined by ANCC. The course offers a summary of key clinical
information and issues central to caring for the highly specialized
needs of older adults. It also reviews the financial, social,
political, and cultural issues that affect nursing care for the
elderly.
ASA
Web Seminars
The ASA Web Seminars were developed to increase the skill and
knowledge of nurses, occupational therapists and social workers,
who provide services to families and other informal caregivers
of older persons, as well as grandparents and older relatives
who are in a caregiving role for younger people.
