(Philadelphia, PA) The latest information on Alzheimer's Disease, which affects at least four million Americans, was presented in a live WHYY webcast Friday, October 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The webcast presented the first dementia care conference organized by The University of Pennsylvania's Alzheimer's Disease Center, "Dementia Care: Living for Today and Planning for Tomorrow." The conference was designed especially for individuals with dementia in the early stage and family members who care for someone at any stage. Most people with Alzheimer's Disease live at home and are cared for by family members.

The University of Pennsylvania's Alzheimer's Disease Center hosted its first dementia care conference, "Dementia Care: Living for Today and Planning for Tomorrow," on October 18, 2002. The conference was co-sponsored by WHYY Wider Horizons, NIH/NIA, HCGNE, and others. Conference speakers were drawn from Philadelphia's nationally known leaders in aging and dementia care. They brought cutting edge information on dementia to individuals with dementia in the early stage and family members who care for someone at any stage, focusing on day-to-day care and planning for the future.
