GERO
T I P S Online
RESOURCES
Our
Penn/HCGNE's newest educational resource,
GERO T I P S Online
.provides
a web-based learning environment for nurse practitioners who
want to stay informed about innovative developments in the
field of gerontological nursing. Research at Penn Nursing
focuses on interventions that enhance outcomes of care and
quality of life; furthermore, our HCGNE's major goal is to
provide leadership in creating and disseminating innovations
for frail vulnerable elders. Thus GERO
T I P S Online
's goal to Teach
Innovative Practical
Solutions to busy nurse practitioners and other
health care clinicians working with older, frail patients
is a logical extension of this mission.
We've
added a selection of global
resources for practitioners,
researcher and educators. It is clear that contemporary
medical challenges, whether related to AIDS or the avian
flu have taken on global dimensions and can only be fought
collaboratively and globally. Thus, the new global resources
aim to provide current information for health care professionals
who seek to integrate an international component in their
work on aging and health care. Although limited, we hope
they will be useful either to incorporate global themes
into a curriculum on aging and health care, to travel overseas
to develop programs or to volunteer in helping
disaster victims. Some of the links to sites on culture and
aging may also lend themselves as a resource to help
you work with ethnic or immigrant populations at home. Please
let us know if you find our selections useful.
The
GERO T I P S
Online
resources are provided free of charge. Whether you're
looking to develop new skills for yourself or you want to enhance
your staff's ability to provide state of the art nursing care
to frail elders, come back to this page often. We are constantly
expanding the range of educational offerings. We will provide
you with ideas to implement innovative practical solutions as
well as develop teaching aids to disseminate these useful solutions
to other staff members.
We
also encourage you to send us some feedback on our current features
and we welcome suggestions on what topics you would like us
to address in the future. Thank you very much for your help
in making GERO T I P S
Online
the web site you visit most frequently for gerontological nursing
resources.
Sincerely,
