Restraint-Free Care in Nursing Homes

GERO T I P S Online is pleased to host our Hartford Center's newest educational resource, an online training module, Restraint-Free Care in Nursing Homes. This module builds on the award-winning research on the elimination of restraints by Penn-Nursing faculty Drs. Neville Strumpf and Lois Evans and translates findings from two decades of research into practice.

L. Evans and N. Strumpf

In this module we provide the basic information necessary to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate non-restraint interventions. The use of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and other clinical assessment tools are also discussed.

The Restraint-Free Care in Nursing Homes module is self-paced; we invite you to peruse it at your convenience. To read through the GERO T I P S Online module in its entirety, it is recommended to follow the signs on the bottom of each page. However, if you want to get to specific pages directly, you can also use the drop-down menu on the top of each page.

The GERO T I P S Online Restraint-Free Care in Nursing Homes module is available to you at no charge.
