21st Century Scholars: Leadership in Gerontology
Tyson Family Scholars Award

Undergraduate nursing students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team led by nursing school faculty whose research focuses on mental health or gerontology. It can be an independent faculty mentored study or a sub-study of an existing faculty project.

Students will receive a stipend of $1250.00 per year for up to three years to work with a faculty member on a research project. The faculty will receive a one time stipend of $1250.00 to support their efforts in the student's scholarly work. Funding for this award will end with graduation. The purpose of this award is to enable students to experience first hand the challenges and rewards of nursing research. It is expected that this award will result in a scholarly project, i.e., paper, poster presentation, oral presentation.

The student and the faculty member will develop a one page proposal describing the project, its specific aims, proposed role and activities for the student and faculty and a preliminary plan for developing the study.
