Clinical Opportunities

PENN NURSING -.Our World is our Community

"Without good and careful nursing many must suffer greatly, and probably perish, that might have been restored to health and comfort, and become useful to themselves, their families, and the public, for many years after."

.Unique Clinical Learning and Research Opportunities

Penn Nursing students have many exceptional opportunities for clinical experiences and research opportunities via the School's Penn Nursing Network (PNN) Academic Nursing Practices, a multi-practice health care delivery network spanning the life cycle. Clinical learning opportunities are available also at LIFE, a multi-site demonstration of the transitional care model and translation of the nursing home palliative care model to homebound frail elders.

The scholarship internship initiatives were a result in part of the collaborative research work with Beverly related to “organizational” change lead by Drs. Evans and Scalzi. Drs. Evans and Scalzi as part of their research findings made recommendations to redirect long term care focus to a nurse focused patient centered model. A million dollars was awarded for undergraduate through master’s degree scholarships, summer internships and to provide Penn designed training to Beverly staff nurses. Five BSN/MSN students were successfully placed in internships over the summer at Beverly facilities. Beverly has been very flexible with tailoring the experience for the student’s specific interests.
