Rita K.
Adeniran is the Global Nurse Ambassador of the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania
School of Nursing. She received her basic nursing education from
Lagos University Teaching Hospital Nigeria. She became a
registered nurse in the United States in 1990 and went on to
receive her baccalaureate degree from Widener University in
2000. In 2002, through a joint program between the School of
Nursing and Wharton Business School, she earned her Masters in
Nursing Science and Health Care Administration from the
University of Pennsylvania.
Rita
demonstrates superb leadership skills in planning,
collaboration, creative problem solving and follow-up. She is a
creative and strategic thinker who is always willing and able to
identify an approach or solution to a problem. One of her
strengths is her ability to work with individuals at all levels
of administration and clinical areas. Rita inspires confidence
and a "can do" atititude in others. She has been a role model
and mentor for international students and minority groups in
positions as Nurse Manager and Nursing Supervisor in both
academic health centers and community hospitals. She is
certified as a Case Manager Administrator (CMAC); as a Nurse
Administrator, Advanced Board Certified (CNAA, BC) and a
licensed personal care home administrator.
Since arriving
in the U.S, Rita has served in the community as a home health
nurse and nursing home supervisor for greater than a decade.
In July 2005,
Rita joined the inaugural class of the Health Research
Educational Trust Cultural Competence Leadership Fellowship.
The very timely and rich fellowship has enhanced her skills in
helping health care organizations develop and implement
culturally competent programs. Rita graduated from the
fellowship in July 2006.
Rita is known
in the area of Global Nurse Relationships and Development,
Nursing Administration, and Cultural Diversity education. She
is an effective speaker using creative methodologies to impact
knowledge of these very important and sensitive content areas.
