ATTENTION CRNP’s
Beginning with the April 30, 2007 renewal CRNPS will be required to verify that
they have completed at least 30 hours of continuing education in the two year
period preceding the renewal (from April 30th, 2005 to April 30, 2007). CRNPS
renewing in 2005 and 2006 should begin to accumulate continuing education hours
from a Board approved provider following. The Center for Professional at the
School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing education by the
American Nurses Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

Description:
An advanced comprehensive graduate level course designed to meet the needs of
nurses in advanced practice who are eligible for prescriptive authority. In
this course expert faculty will discuss the principles of clinical pharmacology
and Pharmacotherapeutics as applied to advanced practice nursing in the acute
and primary care of family members across the lifespan. Proper prescribing,
patient education and monitoring procedures for a variety of drug regimens used
to treat common acute and chronic diseases are reviewed. Adherence to therapy,
drug interactions, drug overuse/abuse, and legal/ethical issues are addressed.
The course focuses on appropriate drug regimens for the prevention and treatment of a variety of common acute and chronic diseases. Pharmacodynamic mechanisms and physiologic responses contributing to a drug’s therapeutic effect are discussed. Potential adverse reactions, drug interactions, and signs of developing toxicity are reviewed. Specific considerations for drug therapy in pediatrics, women, and geriatric populations are addressed where appropriate. A variety of teaching and evaluation methods will help you to meet the course objectives including Multiple Case Studies, discussions, pre-test and posttest evaluation.
