PENN Nursing has a new and exciting initiative to expand your knowledge base and enhance your professional growth. Earn a certificate of completion in a continuing nursing education “Specialty.” Completion of these continuing nursing education programs will provide you a broader preparation and flexibility in your choice of career opportunities.
To earn a Continuing Nursing Education Certificate the required courses in each program must be successfully completed.
Options:
To attain a continuing education certificate of completion all required courses must be successfully completed in the “Specialty,” however individual course can be taken as desired for continuing nursing education credit but will not receive a course certificate.
Costs: Single course $899 / two courses $1,599 (save $199) three courses $2,299 (save $398.) Discount only applies if you register for multiple courses at the same time.
Continuing Nursing Education Certificate: Palliative Care
If you are a health care provider (nurse, physician, spiritual care or social worker) practicing in the area with patients who could benefit from knowledgeable approaches to palliative care or if you are new to the area of a palliative Or if you are currently caring for a family o member and would like to gain more information about the practice of palliative care these course would be helpful for you. this evidence based continuing education certificate is for you. A multidisciplinary clinical focused approach is taken with opportunity for clinical conversation and real world experiences. Leading experts in the field will present a variety evidenced based topics.
NUCE557 - Advanced Illness, Dying and Death: Psychosocial and Policy Perspectives
The course will examine patient and family perspectives as well as health care system variables and societal issues that affect the organization and delivery of care during advanced illness and at the end of life. Students will engage in critical analysis of the evidence base concerning psychosocial and spiritual concerns and barriers to and opportunities for improving end of life care across the diverse settings in which health care is delivered. The historical, social, cultural, policy, economic, legal and ethical trends will be explored. Students will critique and propose innovative approaches to affecting sustainable organizational improvements in palliative and end of life care.

NUCES567 – Managing Life-Threatening Illness From a Palliative Care Perspective
Managing Life-threatening Illness from a Palliative Care Perspective focuses on the application of evidence-based methods for systematic assessment and relief of physical symptoms accompanying advanced illness within a framework of nationally recognized standards for adult geriatric, oncology, palliative and end-of-life care.
