Continuing Nursing Education Certificate Programs

PENN Nursing has a new and exciting initiative to expand your knowledge base and enhance your professional growth. Earn a certificate of completion in a continuing nursing education “Specialty.” Completion of these continuing nursing education programs will provide you a broader preparation and flexibility in your choice of career opportunities.
To earn a Continuing Nursing Education Certificate the required courses
in each program must be successfully completed.
Options:
To attain a continuing education certificate of completion all required courses must be successfully completed in the “Specialty,” however individual course can be taken as desired for continuing nursing education credit but will not receive a course certificate.
Continuing Education Certificate in
Nursing Leadership for Nurse Managers
Fee: Certificate Program (3 courses) $ 2,499.00 or Individual courses @ $ 899.00 each
Credit: In order to receive nursing contact hour credit on-time attendance of 85% of the class is required and successful completion of selected course assignments.
Summer º NUCE 652 - Applied Finance
This course focuses on the management of material resources in acute care, ambulatory care, home care, long term care and occupational health care. Specific emphasis on applied financial management, management control systems, budgeting and staffing and introduction to cost accounting. This course also has a one hour computer lab to utilize spread sheets for financial case analysis. This course in turn becomes a prerequisite for the Wharton Financial Management Course. (This course may be taken as an elective by non majors with the consent of instructor and completion of prerequisite work in accounting and MS Excel.)

Fall º NUCE748 - Leadership Development for Health
This course will provide the conceptual and theoretical framework for examining the concept of leadership within the contexts of health systems, health professionals and health policy. It will focus on characteristics of personal and professional leadership, change theory, and the application of critical thinking to the analysis of work environments, systems and the politics of health.

Spring º NUCE 610 - Basic Concepts in Economics and Accounting
This course examines several economic concepts and their application to the current health care environment. Through lecture, discussion and specially designed projects, students will develop skills in analyzing relevant health care issues from an economic perspective.
