Board Membership:

All Penn Nursing alumni are eligible for a two year, renewable term on the Board.  Meeting four times during the academic year, the Board includes leadership positions, young alumni and student representatives, as well as general board of directors.

Our goal is to connect alumni with each other, students, the School of Nursing and the University through events, programs, communiqués and various outreach initiatives.

Members grow their leadership skills, build their network with Penn faculty, administrators and alumni, and give back to support the next generation.

Board members are expected to:

  • Make an annual gift to Penn Nursing’s Annual Fund (at any level)
  • Attend Board meetings, in person or by phone. Meetings are typically held Wednesday nights, 5:30-7:30pm. Dinner is provided.
  • Attend key alumni events, including Homecoming (Oct/Nov) and Alumni Weekend (May)
  • Promote the work of Penn Nursing Alumni and event involvement with classmates.
  • Actively participate in one of the Board Committees.

Committee Membership:

Committee participation is open to all alumni, renewable on an annual basis. Members work with Board members to further alumni involvement and connection.

Committees meet bimonthly, with the option to dial in by phone. Work is also accomplished using email and phone calls between meetings. Most members report dedicating 1-3 hours per month (Sept.-May) in active participation.

Alumni Awards Committee - Aims to recognize outstanding alumni through acknowledgement of their varied contributions to the profession and to the healthcare of citizens of our nation and around the world.

Alumni-Student Connections Committee - Establishes relationships between alumni and students through, but not limited to, the activities of the Alumni Liaison and Mentoring programs.

Events and Outreach Committee - Now forming!

Nominations Committee - Identifies and nominates diverse, dynamic and enthusiastic alumni for the Penn Nursing Alumni Board & Committees. Members must be appointed to this committee.

Alumni interested in open Board or Committee positions should contact Nursingalumni@nursing.upenn.edu. A member of the Alumni Office or Nominations Committee will contact you with more information and to schedule an informational interview. This interview will provide you with information on the many ways to volunteer in support of Penn Nursing, noting the roles that best suit your interests, time availability and skills.

Inquiries are welcome at any time. Remember: your involvement is essential in creating a dedicated, diverse board and committees that represent the greater alumni body.
