Penn Nursing Engages Local High School to Evaluate Elementary Students' Health Students at West Philadelphia's Sayre High School who are taking a health-education class have been working with Penn Nursing Master's students and faculty to learn accurate growth and diabetes-risk-factor assessment.  They are evaluating children in the Beacon after-school program at Sayre and providing nutrition education and a dance program designed to increase physical activity. 

Penn Nursing Programs help University receive Presidential Award for Community Service  The University of Pennsylvania is one of three schools nationwide selected to receive the Presidential Award for General Community Service from the Corporation for National and Community Service. Penn Nursing programs recognized in announcing the award included:

   -  Living Independently for Elders (LIFE)
   -  Penn in the Gulf program of the schools of Social Policy and Practice and of Nursing
   -  Penn in Botswana, a program of the Medical, Nursing, Wharton and Annenberg schools
