Governor Unveils Healthcare Plan at Penn Nursing
Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell
chose Penn Nursing as one of three launch sites for "Prescription
for Pennsylvania", his plan for reducing state healthcare costs.
Core components of the plan include affordability, access, and quality.
It also calls for expanding the scope of nurse practitioners, particularly
midwives, which holds promise for maximizing nursing impact in PA.
The DP covers the story.

CDC Awards Grant for
National Autism Study
Penn Nursing received a $5.9 million
grant as one of five schools in national study. Faculty
member, Dr. Jennifer Pinto-Martin, will work to identify risk factors for
children with autism and
other developmental disabilities.
As the new year begins, we think
about how to enhance our lives. Individually we may have many
resolutions - relax more, experience new places, eat healthier, spend more
time with friends and family. Collectively, Penn Nursing Alumni are
making a significant impact on nursing and healthcare. Consider
helping us strengthen that impact through your involvement with the School.
