This special publication offers highlights of 125 years of nursing education at the University of Pennsylvania. It also features a new art installation at Penn Nursing: “The History of Nursing as Seen Through the Lens of Art,” commissioned by the HUP Alumni Board and created by HUP Nursing alumna and artist Kathy Shaver. Artist Kathleen Shaver HUP’76, has created an art installation to honor the history and legacy of 125 years of nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. Consisting of 27 framed oil paintings on canvas, the deep, visual imagery of the installation evokes the evolution of nursing education, research and practice in the broader social, political and historical context.
