The Best of Both Worlds
Penn Nursing combines the resources and opportunities of a large Ivy League University with the intimacy and personal attention of a small college. The School traces its roots back to 1935 and has grown to its current size of 48 full-time doctoral-prepared faculty and 82 associated, clinical, adjunct, and research faculty who teach its 700 Undergraduate, Masters, PhD, and BSN/MSN students.

Outstanding Clinical Experience
Two of the country's best hospitals, the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, are located a short walk from the School of Nursing. Students have clinical exposure in these world-class facilities.

State-of-the-Art and State-of-the-Science Technology
State-of-the-art instructional, chemistry and computer labs guarantee access to the latest and most convenient technologies for learning. Penn nursing students gain hands-on experience in the Mathias J. Brunner Instructional Technology Center, which houses bedside monitoring systems, computing terminals, and virtual reality patient care simulators and the "sim man" system.

Career Opportunities
Nursing career opportunities exist in countless health care settings, community services, public policy arenas, and management organizations down the street and around the world. Convenient on-campus recruiting and an alumni network of more than 8,000 world-wide help Penn Nursing students make career connections before and after graduation. These Career Services are available to alumni for a lifetime.

Flexibility & Resources
The Penn School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) as well as a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Nursing. Undergraduates can earn a joint degree by combining the BSN with a bachelors in economics from Penn's Wharton School or take advantage of the Nursing Technology Joint Degree with Penn Engineering. The are many more very flexible options available.

Research Opportunities
Penn Nursing's research centers are known worldwide for their contributions to nursing science and evidence-based practice. With the substantial infusion of federal and foundation grants, research opportunities abound for Penn Nursing students, scholars, and researchers. Research assistantships provide linkages to faculty, learning from experts, and the thrill of seeing research applied directly to education and practice.

Financial Support
Penn Nursing's financial aid department works closely with students to identify all sources of financial assistance.  Need-based aid is available from the University as well as loan forgiveness programs from the School.
