Sample Plans of Study

The accelerated program at Penn Nursing for entry in 2012 begins: June 25, 2012

Beginning in 2012, the Summer Clinical Sequence will be the only option available, which begins in June 2012.  Fall 2011 is the last year for the fall clinical sequence.

The summer clinical sequence is scheduled to begin June 25, 2012; in order to begin the program in June, one must have all of the required prerequisite courses completed.  The BSN portion is 18 months ; the length of the MSN is dependant on the specialty chosen and any RN-work experience needed.

Posted below is a sample plan of study of the BSN portion of the Accelerated program. 

Summer Clinical Sequence

This Plan of Study is contingent upon the successful transfer of the Nursing prerequisite courses:

 

Summer (Late June) – 3.0 Course Units

Nursing 50: Introduction to Nursing

Nursing 104: Concepts in Nursing: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles I

Nursing 106: Concepts in Nursing: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles II

 

Fall – 4.0 Course Units

Nursing 210: Nursing of the Childbearing Family (can be taken during the Spring term)

Nursing 220: Nursing of Children (can be taken during the Spring term)

Nursing 242: Concepts of Pharmacology & Therapeutics

 

Spring – 5.0 Course Units

Nursing 240: Nursing Care of the Young and Middle Aged Adult (can be taken during the Fall term)

Nursing 270: Nursing Care of the Older Adult (can be taken during the Fall term)

Nursing 260: Research Methodology

Nursing Case Study or Nursing Elective (select one)

 

Summer – 3.0 Course Units

Nursing 321/322: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

Nursing 340/341: Nursing in the Community

 

Fall – 4.5 Course Units

Nursing 370/371: Advanced Clinical Practicum

Nursing 385: Senior Inquiry

Nursing Case Study or Nursing Elective (whichever was not taken in Spring term)

 

BSN completed – Late December; Eligible for RN NCLEX Exam
