Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program

Penn's Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program prepares registered nurses to improve health outcomes for acutely ill or injured patients. Students develop expertise in physical assessment, complex clinical and ethical decision making, diagnostic and interventional procedures, prescriptive knowledge, and patient care management. The Adult Care NP program:

  • combines theoretical content with guided clinical experiences to emphasize holistic patient care
  • pairs students with expert faculty in the classroom and with acute care nurse practitioners, physicians, or collaborative teams in the practicums
  • offers clinical placements in the nation's top hospitals, located within walking distance of Penn Nursing
  • is XX credit hours, XXX clinical hours
  • offers the option of dual enrollment in both the ACNP and clinical nurse specialist (CNS) programs
  • prepares graduates for the AACN exam, the Critical Care CNS exam or the Adult Health CNS exam
