International Student Information

All international students must present TOEFL scores from within the last two years in addition to GRE scores from within the last five years.

Accepted international applicants must attend The University of Pennsylvania's Summer English Language Program for International Teaching Assistants.  The program usually starts at the end of June and goes until the end of August.  The cost of this program is to be paid by the student and will entail temporary housing.  Students will be expected to pass a language proficiency examination upon the conclusion of this course (if not passed prior to admission).  More information regarding the program can be found at this website:

Due to the delay in some international mail, applicants are encouraged to have all materials sent in a timely manner to ensure their arrival at our school by December 17, 2007.

Applicants who are applying for financial assistance from their government or from foundations are encouraged to apply to our doctoral program at the same time.  Please do not wait until you receive the funding to apply, because you might miss our application deadline and interview schedule.
