Doctoral Programs
Can I Afford A Penn Doctorate

We are committed to fully funding each full time doctoral student for four years at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. Each full time doctoral student receives a stipend, funding for all required course work and individual health insurance.  Currently the minimum stipend is $18,500 for September-May. As students build their skills and move toward meeting their professional goals, the mechanisms used to fully fund doctoral students include research, educational and fellowship opportunities.

For example, PENN is proud to have three grants from the National Institute of Nursing Research that specifically provide funding (tuition and stipend) for pre and post doctoral students. These grants fund students for a research intense experience in the areas of: Research on Health Disparities, Sleep Research, Health Outcomes, or Care for At-Risk Older Adults.   Please also see this page for additional Research Opportunities.
