Advising, Mentoring and Colloquium

ADVISORS

The School of Nursing faculty advise and share their expertise with doctoral students.  Each student’s academic advisor helps that student to become acquainted with faculty and other staff and gain familiarity with University and community resources.  If the academic advisor is changed, the student must notify the original advisor in writing.  The Graduate Group in Nursing Chairperson also must be notified in writing.  The academic advisor must be a member of the Standing Faculty of the School of Nursing.

MENTORS
The Doctoral Student Organization members volunteer to be mentors for the incoming doctoral students.  Matches are made based on a variety of considerations including: research interest, full or part time status, commuter/non-commuter, etc.  International students also receive and international student mentor who can assist with transition issues.

COLLOQUIUM
Twice a year the Doctoral Student Association presents a colloquium for the university community.  The event is completely student run and is highly successful.  Past speakers have included Kathle
