Adult Home Care Option

This option prepares students to provide home-based care for adults through clinical placements and seminars within the clinical sequence. Courses in home care concepts and epidemiology synthesize the knowledge required for community-based practice.

Graduates who complete this option include a nurse practitioner who manages care for older urban adults in coordination with a home care agency and a nurse practitioner who provides and coordinates the care of recently discharged hospital patients.

If a student desires a further emphasis in home care, the following courses must be taken in place of two electives in the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner Program:

Course of Study

Core Courses (2 course units)
NURS500 - Introduction to Principles and Methods of Epidemiology
NURS550 - Home Health Care Concepts: Mgmt. & Delivery of Community-Based Care
