Celebrating 125 Years of Nursing History at Penn!

125 Innovators and Ideas

Care to Change the World.

It is hard to summarize 125 years into one word, but for Penn Nursing that legacy is impact.  Nursing at Penn began in 1886 with the opening of the HUP School of Nursing.  From that beginning, we have served as a leader and innovator, armed with the goal of improving health and health care throughout the world.

The true story of Penn Nursing isn’t just what happens here in classrooms and laboratories — it’s the story of how our alumni and faculty influence the world through their actions and ideas. It’s the story of how they change lives through science, education and practice.

We invite you to celebrate 125 years of Nursing at Penn by helping us compile a list of 125 innovative faculty, alumni, students and ideas.

If we told each story of impact, our list would far exceed 125.  But we hope to reflect the breadth and depth of Penn Nursing’s influence on care delivery, nursing education and health policy.

We are proud of the impact of the Penn Nursing alumni, faculty, students and ideas. Together, these individuals and ideas create a picture of the diversity, impact, and influence of Penn Nursing over the past 125 years.
