Orion 320 PerpHecT® – pH Meter 
A pH meter measures hydrogen ion concentration of liquid samples. This allows determination of initial and follow-up pH of liquid drug and nutritional products and extemporaneous preparations for compatibility evaluation.
ViscoSystem® AVS 370 – Viscometer
This equipment measures the viscosity of transparent and opaque fluids via the capillary method in a modular system. It allows determination of the viscosity of various dilutions of drug product and nutrient formula products intended for administration via tube.
GC/MS
The GC/MS allows various methods application to separate, identify, and quantify chemical compounds in a sample. This allows determination of drug, nutrient, and degradation products in a sample to evaluate availability and stability or toxicant in a sample to evaluate environmental exposure.
Leitz Cryostat
The Cryostat is used for cutting thin sections of relevant tissue samples (frozen sections) for staining and microscopic analysis. Sections can be cut at a thickness of 40 microns and can be stained with antibodies to detect specific tissue proteins.
Olympus light/fluorescence Microscope
This microscope is used to examine cell and tissue specimens for markers of protein expression and for detection of cell damage.
7300 Real-time PCR System
The PCR System is used as a thermal cycler and is specifically designed for single nucleotide polymorphism and gene expression analysis on RNA extracted from a variety of cell types and tissues. The system can also be used for pathogen quantitation.
Kodak Gel Logic 100 – Gel Imager
This photographic system can be used to create permanent images of DNA and protein gels as well as DNA (Southern), RNA (Northern) and protein (Western) blots. The imager can also be used to create photographic images of fluorescent cells, plates and assays.
Spectramax M2e – Microplate Reader
The plate reader can be used to perform ELISA’s, enzyme kinetics, drug dissolution assays, viability/cytotoxicity assays and apoptosis assays.
Beckman DU730 – Spectrophotometer
This device measures DNA and protein concentrations. It can also be used to perform kinetic assays.
Sorvall Legend RT – Tabletop Centrifuge
This centrifuge can be used to prepare plasma samples, remove residue from biologic samples prior to analysis, various biochemical procedures and for tissue culture procedures.
Sterilgard Class II Biological Safety Cabinet
The biological safety cabinet is used for sterile culture medium preparation, culturing of eukaryotic cells, and experiments involving those cells. Cultured cells can also be used for recombinant expression of protein and antibody production.
Kendro Heracell 150 CO2 Incubator
A CO2 incubator is used for housing and provision of optimum temperature control and growth conditions for cultured cells.
VWR 37 Degree Incubator
This incubator can be used for culturing of bacteria and yeast used in generating recombinant DNA subsequently used in protein expression. The incubator can also be used for incubation of other assays requiring 37 degree Celsius temperature.
Radnotti Muscle Tensiometers
These muscle tensiometers are used to determine isolated muscle strip tension development, without the confounding influences of the nervous and endocrine systems. They can be used to measure muscle mechanics in heart, skeletal muscle, and vascular rings.
